Schmuel Yakob comes from a lineage of cyclists. His grandparents escaped nazi Germany on bicycles. They made their way to the Bahamas where they set up a small bagel shop and used bicycle dealer. They later moved to the west coast of the USA where they pioneered a gluten-free knish bakery, decades ahead of its time. Schmuel has been riding since he was three years old and is a very steady and strong cyclist. Lucky for him , the Eroica is not on the sabbath.
Stanlislaw Bjorgorg was profiled earlier in the frame builders section of this story. He is a strong cyclist and his job is to find the lowest prices on beer, occasionally drive the team vehicle and to look for a piece of pie that will give him the needed boost for the next leg of the journey. He is a very jolly cyclist who often shows best in the closing miles of a day-long escapade on two wheels.
Lord Buckethead of Gnarlemagne is no stranger to the vintage bike circuit. He can be seen riding his period-correct handmade cycle at any time on any road surface-or no road at all. He was born in the small hamlet of Shredly, but in his infancy was brought to California where he learned to ride in the forests of the coastal mountains. He is the only team member related ( although quite distantly..) to the royal family. His job is to get to the front and set tempo into the headwind.
Sonja Von Scraper was raised by wolves in the Black Forest. Her toughness on the bike cannot be overstated. Her ability to overcome the savage cruelty of casual coastal cycling has earned her a reputation second to none. Her job on the team is to convince rivals that she is not feeling well at the beginning of a ride- then she proceeds to leave them all in her wake.
Thomas "Crash" Scabworthy is an adventurer and avid photographer. His job on the team is to document the exploits, at least while he is still on the ride. Thomas has been known to take huge risks on the bike, particularly on the descents. His job is to speed-test the off-camber dirt corners. This does come at considerable risk and he's not beyond taking 'one for the team', sacrificing himself for the good of all others.
Svig Bos has a mysterious background- nobody is quite sure where he was born or even why he exists. Not being a young or strong cyclist, his job on the team is to survey the carnage on the route, no doubt inflicted by the heroic exploits of his younger team mates. He has a long, if not distinguished history of riding cycles, even in the era when older bikes were not older bikes.
Channing Mego is the only living relative of the late Cyrus Mego. She was born aboard a ship that was sailing from the UK to the USA. It has been thought that the stormy voyage with the vessel pitching and tilting helped create an uncanny sense of balance in Channing-Her remarkable bike handling skills could be a product of this early voyage. Taciturn and ecumenical, her job on the team is to inform rival cyclists that they are neither heroes or period correct , if the situation warrants this.Hennesey Brunswicke lives by a river where he counts fish. He also lives near a bowling alley where he counts strikes. He is an experienced cyclist, having ridden on many continents around the globe. His job is to keep the group together and cohesive during a vintage period-correct cycling event. He is a competent mechanic and can provide expert roadside service , often using debris or sticks to effect satisfactory repairs. He is the pilot of the team van- a virtual replica of one owned by the late Cyrus Mego.
